My name is April Muzquiz and I have been grateful to be a part of the Roan Forest team since December 2012. I am the Campus Bilingual Instructional Coach and oversee our Dual Language/ESL programs. We have an amazingly diverse population and I enjoy getting to know our students and love having the opportunity to work with them.
I have lived in Texas since 2001 and although I was born in Michigan, I was raised in Monterrey, Mexico. I began to understand the importance of bilingualism and develop an appreciation for cultures other than my own early on. I studied psychology at the Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM) and then moved to South Texas, where I graduated from UTPA with a major in psychology and a minor in Spanish. It was then that I sought out my teaching certification. Throughout the years, I have taught ESL, Bilingual, Dual, and General Education classes in Pre-K, Kinder, 1st grade and even adult courses. In the fall of 2015, I received a Masters in Education, Curriculum & Instruction with a minor in English Language Development from Concordia University-Portland, completed a Masters in Educational Administration at Texas A & M in 2017, and in continuing my goal for life-long learning, I am currently a Doctoral candidate at Baylor University.
