Cindy Slagle

I am a graduate from Kansas State University.  I lived in Arizona for 17 years where I taught high school Physical Education, coached Tennis, Volleyball & Track.  I also taught Elementary Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education and coached Special Olympics.  My husband of 45 years and I have now been in San Antonio for 28 years. We have two sons, both graduates from NEISD and from Texas State University and University of Arizona.  We are very blessed to have two beautiful daughters-in-laws, two beautiful little granddaughters and two grandsons.

I have taught Adapted Physical Education for over 30 years.   I have been with NEISD for the past 21 years.  In 2006, I was the recipient of the Adapted Physical Educator of the Year for the state of Texas.   The Superintendent's Award for 2006-07 and in 2007 received the Adapted Physical Education Teacher of the Year award for Southern District American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (thirteen states).  I am presently VP for Recreation.  I have served as Chair for the Adapted P.E. section for TAHPERD (Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance), been chair for Early Childhood section and presented over 30 sessions at state conferences during the past 20 years.  I have also shared my expertise at seven National conferences in California, Illinois, Florida, Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania and New York. In the spring of 2012 I was one of the co-writers with some of my Texas APE teachers with our first book "Build It So They Can Play" published by Human Kinentics.  I love teaching and work hard to make a difference in my students lives.  North East ISD has a very remarkable Adapted P.E. program and I feel fortunate to be a part of it.

Teaching Adapted P.E. is my passion.
