Mrs. Shaunna Ondrias

Welcome! What an interesting year we have all had! It is so exciting to start a new journey with you.  I have taught 1st Grade for 6 years and have been blessed to be part of the Northern Hills Family for the last 15 years.  This is absolutely my favorite age because we embark on the important journey of learning to be life-long readers and writers.  I am passionate about helping every child become a confident reader who enjoys sitting down with a good book.  To make this happen, first graders need to be exposed to thousands of books and spend time reading every day at school and at home.  I look forward to working together with you as a team to help your child fall in love with reading!

Another very important focus this year will be to create a School Family. We will become problem solvers who find ways to be kind and helpful to our school family.  Unity means we all feel safe and loved in our classroom. This will help us encourage each other to do our very best learning each day.  We all make mistakes, and when we do, we will take that opportunity to learn and support each other's efforts to try another way.  Every child will have an important role in contributing to our school family with their unique talents and gifts.
