Ms. Barbara Leas

My name is Barbara Leas. I have taught many years at NEISD and I am so excited to be part of Las Lomas Elementary. San Antonio became my home when my father transferred to Randolph Air Force Base. Before that, we lived in Nebraska, Japan, and Texas. I am the sixth in a family of eleven children.

I attended Oak Grove Elementary School, Garner Middle School, and Mac Arthur High. Although NEISD has grown and changed over the years, I strongly believe its integrity has remained strong.

I have two wonderful children and two fantastic grandchildren. My passion for working with children grew at a young age, as it was my job to entertain and help my younger brothers and sisters. This was much more fun than the alternative jobs such as extra cleaning and yard work! I guided summertime Girl Scout groups and helped to teach special ed CCD (Sunday school) classes during my high school years. I graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word with a B.A. in Education and Special Education Certificate.

My goal for the students is to maintain a nurturing environment and to

“Educate through innovative technology to empower lifelong leaders and global stewards.”
