Mrs. Althea Brown

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am so excited that your child is in our Kindergarten class for the 2021-2022 school term.  I am looking forward to a great school year being a partner with you in your child’s learning experience!

I am Althea Brown, and this will be my 20th year teaching. I graduated from Fort Valley State University where I received my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.  I have taught the following:  pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, first, third, and fifth grade.  I have held teacher credentials in Georgia, Hawaii, Kansas, Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), Arizona and presently, Texas.  I love teaching!  I have experience working with numerous students as I have served alongside my husband 26 of his 30 years of military service.  We have three wonderful children in whom we affectionally refer to  as our “Angels”!  I am super excited to be at Dellview Elementary this year!

I sincerely care about the children with whom I interact and feel that they are entitled to the best!  In order for this to happen, my goal will be to create a social emotional learning environment that is positive and encouranging.  All students will be responsible for making appropriate behavioral choices to help build a positive environment for everyone.

It is my goal for your child to meet/master standards in kindergarten this year.  Please share ideas or information about your child that could  help him or her succeed,   My job is to be flexible and do what works best for your child.  In order to ensure that each child has a safe environment for learning to take place, we will adhere to routines and procedures.

Please see our Classroom Routines and Procedures…

  1. Follow Directions quickly.
  2. Raise your hand for permission to speak.
  3. Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat.
  4. Make Smart Choices.
  5. Keep Your Dear Teacher Happy.  (Please note that when students are learning that makes their Dear Teacher HappyJ!)

Communication is essential.  You are an integral part of your child’s education.  Conferences will be held at least once or twice during the school year for us to talk.  However, if there is ever a time that you would like to meet, please feel free to contact me.

I am looking forward to an adventurous and productive year!

 Althea Brown
