Mr. Eric Hernandez

I have been teaching middle school math and coaching since 2012. I fell in love with math at a young age when I learned how patterns in numbers and shapes helped me solve puzzles. I loved how patterns were found in music and dance. I loved how I could predict future outcomes by analyzing patterns in data.

For many students, and adults, math does not come easy. Over the years, technology has allowed us to solve basic compuation problems quicker, with greater precision and accuracy. Gone are the days where teachers only teach students how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. While we will spend time developing those skills to build computational fluency, more time will be spent developing strategies to solve complex problems and justifying solutions with logical sequencing and explanations.

This class is designed to challenge students no matter what their ability is when then enter the class. I challenge my students, but I will not let them struggle alone. I am excited to welcome you and your child to my classroom and look forward to building a strong and positive relationship as we strive for success in math!
