Krueger School of Applied Technologies (KSAT)
KSAT uses project-based learning in which students apply either the scientific method or engineering design processes to complete major class projects.
The Krueger School of Applied Technologies (KSAT) is an all-around rigorous Pre-Advanced Placement (Pre-AP) middle school program that uses Aerospace Science and Technologies as its theme. The instructional units incorporate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) with an emphasis on team work, problem solving, and improving communication skills.
Features and Accolades:
As a part of the integrated units, each grade level takes several field trips each year. Past field trips have included the Texas Renaissance Festival, NASA, and the USS Lexington.
During eighth grade, students take part in the Team America Rocketry Challenge, a national rocket competition, as one of their unit projects, which allows them to demonstrate the level of skill they have acquired by attending the program. They can also apply to participate in the advanced Student Launch class who propose, build and fly rockets in the NASA Student Launch program.
In 6th and 7th grade the technology courses use professional grade programs such as Adobe’s Creative Suite and Blender. The students also have the opportunity to create web sites and programing for Androids and other technologies.
