Mrs. Amie Charney

Amie Charney, Director of Creative Writing, NESA

Amie Charney holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of California, and a BA in Literature and Writing from Cal State. She is a published fiction writer and produced screenwriter. She has also taught AP English, AP Seminar, AVID, World Lit, and American Lit. Mrs. Charney was named 2023 HEB Texas Teacher of the Year, Secondary Leadership.

Mrs. Charney is a proud USMC aviator wife and has enjoyed living all over the country. She also has two children -- her daughter Lauren who graduated from BIMS at Texas A&M, and her son Alex is a Junior at Texas A&M Mays Business School for advertising. Mrs. Charney loves to travel and has been all over the world... last summer she added Ireland, Scotland, England, and Qatar to her list! This summer she was behind the camera as an Associate Produced on the movie Stitched, and even appeared in front of the camera as a Therapist.

She also loves reading and collecting books...and shoes. She loves shoes :) Mrs. Charney's brain might be a Ravenclaw, but her heart belongs to Gryffindor.
