Welcome back, 2020-2021 Champions! I'm looking forward to my 9th year of teaching here at Cibolo Green Elementary School. This year I will be teaching 5th grade, including Hyper-Accelerated Math.
I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. After high school graduation, I was eager to spread my wings and follow my dreams! I received my undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, AZ, where I met my husband, Drew. I was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Air Force where I worked as a Developmental Engineer at the Air Force Research Laboratory and then a Weapons Integration Engineer at the F-16 Systems Group. I enjoyed the challenge of problem-solving but soon realized I wanted to share my enthusiasm for Math and Science with kiddos, so I began the process of changing careers. An opportunity to teach preschool was the perfect transition from my work in the military to my work here in NEISD. Along the way I completed my teaching certification and a Master's degree in Reading from St. Mary's University, followed by a second Master's degree from St. Mary's University in Educational Leadership.
I have 2 amazing kids (an eighth grader at Tex Hill and a junior at Johnson) who both love band and taking care of our many pets. My husband, Drew, taught Geometry and A.P. Statistics at Johnson, but is now an assistant principal at MacArthur High School. We enjoy traveling, movie nights, and going to our kids' band shows and concerts. Although I have lived in Tennessee, Arizona, Ohio, and Nevada, our family is now feeling settled in San Antonio, and we're excited to have grandparents nearby in Blanco!
