Welcome Jaguars!
Dear Students and Parents,
The 2020-2021 school year will be my 16th year in education and my 13th year at Johnson High School. This year I will teach English I Honors and English II Honors/GT. Both courses provide an engaging and rigorous environment for learning and discovery through literature, discussion, creativity, and writing. Students will also be prepared for stellar success on the STAAR/EOC and PSAT.
In addition to English-y things, students in my courses learn organizational and study strategies, communication, and interpersonal skills. These are the skills necessary to be successful in life whether pursuing a military career, a place in the workforce, or a college degree.
Students are expected to be active participants in their learning, rather than being passive recipients of information. I encourage my students to be proactive by asking for clarification and confirmation, attending tutoring, and preparing for class each day.
High school is an exciting time to make new friends, join extracurricular activities, and learn new things; however, it can be a real balancing act. As a teacher (and mom to two amazing high school graduates), I understand both the challenges and joys that you will experience, and I consider it a privilege to help you along this journey. Should you have any questions or concerns, please email me anytime: lblom@neisd.net
I look forward to a wonderful year!
