True to my content, I love everything that involves the outdoors--hiking, walking, gardening, and so much more. I also enjoy many sports and exercise. I played competitive soccer for 14 years, but now have become a yoga enthusiast. I also enjoy working on creative projects such as floral design, making jewelry, and redoing things around the house. I am recently married to a high school physics teacher who shares my love for science and our large orange tabby cat.
I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas with my parents and one younger sister. I moved to Fort Worth, Texas to go to Texas Christian University where I received my B.A. in Biology and a minor in Psychology. During this time, I took part in several research opportunities including studying the effects on migrating bird and bat populations from a wind farm in St. Jo, Texas. I also was a teaching assistant for a Contemporary Issues of Biology course where I discovered my passion for sharing Biology with others. From here I decided to continue my education and received my Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction: Science Education. I wrote my thesis on Student Engagement in the Outdoor Classroom, allowing me the incredible opportunity to work for the non-profit organization Real School Gardens. After completing my masters I moved to San Antonio.
I am so grateful to now be in my 6th year of teaching, where I have the amazing opportunity to share my love for science content with fabulous students.
