Ms. Amy Gillespie

Hello, my name is Amy Gillespie.  I am originally from Wyoming and moved to Texas when I was 12, so I am now a Texan!!!! My father was a wildlife biologist and took me hunting, fishing and camping most weekends of my life.  This is where I developed my love of science!

I went to high school in Brenham, TX, where I played volleyball, basketball and soccer as well as taking a full course load (heavy on the science classes, lol). After graduation, I moved to San Antonio for college and majored in Biology and nutrition at UTSA.

After gratuating with my undergrad, I began working as an operating room representative. In 2010 I decided to go back to school to get my secondary science certification at UTSA.  I later completed my masters at UTSA in Curriculum and Instruction and am now working on my Doctorate at UIW in Educational Leadership.  I have now been in education for 10 years, beginning my career at John Jay High School & The Science and Engineering Academy in 2010, where I taught PAP Biology. I have now been at LEE for 5 years am excited am teaching Aquatic Science!

I am very much a science nerd!!!! Science rules!!!!

I am a huge pet lover: I have a guinea pigs, 2 French bulldogs, and a 100 gallon satwater tank with 8 fish.

I am an avid lifter and "gym rat" as most would call me.  If I am not work or in school you will find me at the gym on the floor hitting the weights.

I love sports, to play and to watch!!

I am very excited about the new year! Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Best way to get in touch with me would be though email.
