Mrs. Catherine Polk
Hello! I am the Social Studies electives teacher and Instructional Dean for English and Social Studies at ISA. I myself am a product of NEISD! Starting at Stahl Elementary, I continued on to Wood Middle School before becoming a member of the first 8th grade class at Harris Middle School, and then I graduated from James Madison High School. After graduating high school, I remained in San Antonio to continue my education at Trinity University where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and a double-major in English. I then continued my education at Trinity through the Master of Arts in Teaching program. During my M.A.T. year, I interned right here at ISA with the senior team in AP English IV. Upon completion of my Masters degree, I joined the ISA community as the AP English III Language and Composition teacher in 2016, and spent two years with the ISA Junior Team. I then spent three more years teaching English and Social Studies electives. This will be my 7th year at ISA, my 5th year teaching Social Studies electives, and my 2nd year as an Instructional Dean. This will also be my 2nd year sponsoring MUNSA!
My goal for my students is to explore personal perspectives, as well as the perspectives of others, so that when they graduate from the hallowed halls of ISA, they enter the world as critical thinkers, compassionate citizens, and effective writers.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time with my husband and two little boys, Carter and Cayden.
I look forward to collaborating with students, families, and the ISA community as we embark on an action-packed year at ISA!
