I am beginning my twenty-seventh year in education this year teaching 7th grade English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) at Lopez Middle School. I have had several different jobs during my career in education including ten years in administration with NEISD as an Academic Dean and an Assistant Principal. I enjoyed both of those experiences, but the truth is that during those years there was not a day that went by when I didn't miss being a teacher and having the opportunity to work with kids and foster academic success in English.  I love teaching and I look forward to finding greatness in every student I teach.

My personal life is full of celebrations this year.  We celebrate that none of our family members has been sick. Linda and I will celebrate our 42nd-anniversary this year with our three wonderful children who are all now working professionals with their own families. And the biggest celebration for our clan is our new grandson who brings our total to three. Owyn joins Dean and Inez as the best little lights in our lives.

This year may be decidedly different as we must continue to limit the spread of Covid-19, but I feel really good about the plans we have made to keep you safe here at school.

The most important thing you need to know about me is that I look forward to teaching your kids, I love the craft of writing and watching the lights go on when kids understand concepts, and I see myself as extremely lucky to be immersed in a career that is my passion.  I am ready for school.
