• Editing Borrowing Limits and Permissions with Insignia ILS

     

    Borrowing Limits are controlled by the Patron Circ Type cross referenced with the Circ Type of the item being borrowed.  To change the limits and duration of borrowing you must edit the grid for each Patron Circ Type at each item Circ Type.

    • Administrations>Library Setting>Circulation Types

    Circulation Types

    • Select the Patron Circ Type tab

    • You will be editing each Circulation Type for each Patron Circ Type in the dropdown from Student - Adult Opt Out to Student - YA Opt Out

    Edit each one

    • First edit all grades, then all OptOut Patron Circ Types
      • Select your first Grade Level from the dropdown and then click Edit

    Click Edit

    • Enter the Total Number of items that you desire patrons at this grade level to borrow
      • Pre-K students may borrow a total of any 2 Circulation Types
      • Click Save

    • Now, you must edit the grid below for the maximum number of items that this Patron Circ Type can check out for each Circ Type
    • Select the first Circ Type under Item Group and then click the Edit Grid button

    • The Loan Trap popup will display
      • Edit Loan Limit - this is the total number of this Circ Type that this Patron Circ Type may borrow
          • If you have a limited number of a particular Circ Type, you may wish to limit patrons to fewer than your Total Loan Limit
          • This number cannot exceed the Total Loan Limit entered above
          • Set to 0 (zero) for Circ Types that you do not want this Patron Circ Type to borrow
            • Will result in the Permission Denied block 
      • Edit Max Renew - total number of times the item may be renewed
      • Edit Loan Period - total number of days the item may be borrowed
      • Edit Renew Period - total number of days the item will renew
      • Click Save

    Click Save

    • Repeat this for every single Circ Type that you have in your Library
      • You must set the Loan Trap for all Book Types and all AV Types in order to avoid hitting the borrowing limit prematurely 

    Keep scrolling

    • Once the Loan Trap has been set for all Circulation Types for this Patron Circ Type, select the next Grade Level from the Name dropdown

    Next Grade level

    • Set the Total Loan Limits in the upper portion and save
      • Edit the Loan Trap for each Circulation Type by clicking Edit Grid
      • Repeat for all Grade Levels
    • Select the Student - OA OptOut Patron Circ Type
      • Edit the Total Loan Limits in the upper portion
        • This number will affect all Student - OA OptOut patrons, regardless of their grade level
        • 1st grade OA OptOut patrons will have the same limit as 5th grade OA OptOut patrons

    OA Opt Out

      • Select and edit the Loan Trap for each Circ Type in the grid below
        • Do not set Book - Older Audience above 0 (zero)
    • Select the Student - Adult OptOut Patron Circ Type
      • Edit the Total Loan Limits in the upper portion
        • This number will affect all Student - Adult OptOut patrons, regardless of their grade level
        • 1st grade Adult OptOut patrons will have the same limit as 5th grade Adult OptOut patrons
      • Select and edit the Loan Trap for each Circ Type in the grid below
        • Do not set Book - Older Audience above 0 (zero)
        • Do not set Book - Adult above 0 (zero)
    • Select the Student - YA OptOut Patron Circ Type
      • Edit the Total Loan Limits in the upper portion
        • This number will affect all Student - YA OptOut patrons, regardless of their grade level
        • 1st grade YA OptOut patrons will have the same limit as 5th grade YA OptOut patrons
      • Select and edit the Loan Trap for each Circ Type in the grid below
        • Do not set Book - Older Audience above 0 (zero)
        • Do not set Book - Adult above 0 (zero)
        • Do not set Book - Young Adult above 0 (zero)
