Mrs. Catalina Herrera

My name is Catalina Herrera, and I'm so excited about being part of the Hardy Oak Elementary 2nd grade team! I was born and raised here in San Antonio, and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I'm married and have a daughter in middle school and a son entering 5th grade. We also have an energetic chocolate lab named Annie.

Before becoming a teacher, I spent several years working as a registered nurse. I took some time off to raise my babies, and while I stayed home with them, I volunteered at their schools, helped form a Girl Scout Brownie troop, and fell in love with the idea of teaching!!! This is my fourth year as an educator, and I'm looking forward to many, many more. 

It is my goal to build an educational community where all students feel welcome and supported. Our classroom will be filled with so many wonderful opportunities for students to engage in activities and lessons that will help them develop a love for learning and a growth mindset. I believe every student holds the potential to do great things. With your partnership, we can get these amazing students on the road to success.
