Calendar FAQs

  • Why is the calendar start date August 10, 2022?

    Posted by:

NEISD provides a calendar with 180 instructional days and a minimum of 75,600 minutes. On our new calendar, we provide time for staff development and end the school year before Memorial Day. The start date was moved to August 10, 2022, to facilitate these changes and meet the TEA Additional Day School Year (ADSY) Calendar requirements.

  • Does TEA mandate a 180 instructional day calendar?

    Posted by:

No. School calendars are local decisions. Districts have the opportunity to create calendars that best support academic success for their students. NEISD is a District of Innovation, which provides the opportunity for restructuring the academic calendar to address both prior academic loss and potential future interruption.
