Peer Assistance Leadership and Service
PALS is an elective class offered for one year. Students apply to PALS by going through a selection process that includes an application, teacher recommendations, and an interview. There are approximately 22 PALS selected each year. Students selected represent a cross-section of the student body. These students are motivated with a strong service ethic.
The PALS receive training in areas such as leadership, communication, peer mentoring, team bulding, and other social/emotional skills. The PALS mentor 6th grade students, elementary students at Colonial Hills Elementary, and students in the A.L.E. program here at Jackson. The PALS are also called upon to help with other activities in a leadership role such as Cub Camp, Greenback Night, Parent Night, Elementary Tour Days, and other activities as needed.
