  • August

    Back to School Monday, August 17th!

    The Counseling focus for August will be Counselor introductions. Wilderness Oak has a new part-time Counselor, Mrs. Erika Benton. Welcome, Erika!

    The Leader in Me Habit for August is an introduction and review, The First 8 Days.

    As we return to school under the Covid 19 safety guidelines, our Superintendent will keep us updated as to what that will mean for each campus.

    At Wilderness Oak, we are seeing students on campus and remotely, maintaining the District, County and State guidelines for Covid 19.

  • September

    Monday, September 7th, is a District designated holiday for Labor Day.

    The Counseling focus for September is Digital Citizenship to support students as we learn remotely.

    The Leader in Me Habit for September is Habit 1, Be Proactive: You are in charge!

  • October

    Friday, October 9th and Monday, October 12th, are early dismissal days.Wednesday, October 21st and Thursday, October 22nd, are also early dismissal days.

    The Counseling focus for October will be Drug Education to coincide with Red Ribbon Week, October 23rd - 31st.

    The Leader in Me habit for October is Habit 2, Begin with the End in Mind: Have a plan.

    The Wilderness Oak Bike Rodeo assembly is Monday, October 26th and the Bike Rodeo is Friday, October 30th.

  • November

    Set your clocks! Sunday, November 1st, Daylight Savings ends. The week of Monday, November 23rd to Friday, November 27th, is the Thanksgiving holiday break.

    The Counseling focus for November is Thoughts, Feelings and Emotions. As we continue our school year with Covid 19 restrictions in place and with holidays coming soon, we need to think about ourselves and how we are coping with the changes we are encountering.

    The Leader in Me habit for November is Habit 3, Put First Things First: Work first, then play.

    Election Day this year is Tuesday, November 3rd. Veteran's Day is Wednesday, November 11th. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, we will not have our annual Veteran's Day celebration.

  • December

    Merry, merry, merry. The holidays are upon us! Monday, December 21st through Friday, January 1st, are the Winter holidays.

    The Counseling focus for December is Self Care and Anxiety. Holidays can be stressful times. But also times to remember our friends, our families and how fortunate we are.

    The Leader in Me habit for December is Habit 4, Think Win - Win: Everyone can win!

  • January

    We return on January 4th to an early dismissal day. Monday, January 18th, is Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

    The Counseling focus for January is Honesty and Trustworthiness. What a great way to begin the new year and trying to keep those New Year's Resolutions!

    The Leader in Me habit for January is Habit 5, Seek First to Understand then to be Understood: Listen before you talk. We have so much to tell after the Winter break, but so do others. Remember to listen to their stories as well as telling your own.

  • February

    Wednesday, February 3rd, Thursday, February 4th, and Friday, February 12th, are early dismissal days. Monday, February 15th, is a holiday.

    The Counseling focus for February is Making Friends and Getting Along with Others. With Valentine's Day in February, it's a good time to take a look at our friendships, what makes a good friend and how to be a good friend.

    The Leader in Me habit for February is Habit 6, Synergize: Together is better. How perfect for February!

  • March

    Monday, March 8th through Friday, March 12th, is our Spring Break. On Sunday, March 14th, as you are getting ready to get back to school, set your clock forward! Daylight Savings begins on Sunday, March 14th.

    The Counseling focus for March is Respect. Spring is a great time to look around and see the beauty of nature happening and think about the respect you have for our world and the people in it.

    The Leader in Me Habit for March is Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw: Balance feels best. A great habit for March, when we have time to relax and reflect during Spring Break.

  • April

    April starts off with . . . a holiday! Friday, April 2nd and Monday, April 5th, recognize the Easter holiday. Friday, April 23rd, recognizes our favorite San Antonio holiday, Fiesta!

    The Counseling focus for April is Grit and Perseverance. We are headed to the home stretch for this school year, are looking forward to the return of STAR testing and need to remember we are tough and will get through it!

    The Leader in Me habit for April is Habit 8: Find Your Voice. This is my favorite habit. We all need to think about who we are, what we stand for and be true to ourselves.

    Don't forget Tax Day on Thursday, April 15th!

  • May

    We are in the final stretch. The 2020 - 2021 school year ends on Thursday, May 27th. Happy summer!

    The Counseling focus for May is Summer Safety. Summer fun is upon us and we need to remember, no matter how much fun we are having, if someone gets hurt, it's no fun at all!
