Dual Credit allows a high school student to earn college credit and high school credit simultaneously. Typically, Academic Dual Credit is awarded through San Antonio College. Career and Technical Dual Credit is awarded through St. Philip’s College, Palo Alto College, and San Antonio College.

Requirements for Dual Credit
Talk to your counselor and read the Academic High School Dual Credit Handbook for your school before applying for Dual Credit. Below are the requirements for Dual Credit:
Step 1: Complete ApplyTexas Application according to the Apply Texas Handbook
Login to Apply Texas and create an account
Complete the ApplyTexas application to start the process.
Step 2: Review the Dual Credit Handbook
Choose your campus Dual Credit Handbook from the list on the right. Fill in and return the appropriate pages.
Step 3: Review the TSI (Texas Success Initiative)Test Prep
Complete the TSI Test Prep or PAA Module before taking the TSI exam. A PAA is required prior to taking a TSI.
Step 4: Take the TSI Exam or the ACT/SAT in order to qualify for Dual Credit
The TSI Exam is a state-mandated program designed to help determine if you are ready for college-level course work in the general areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. The program will help you know what type of courses or interventions will assist you to be prepared for college-level course work. Talk to your counselor to find out where to register for your exam.

Step 5: Submit the Dual Credit Checklist (located in your Dual Credit Handbook) to the Counseling Office by the Deadline

TSI for Prospective Dual Credit Students: You will have the opportunity to take the TSI remotely. If you had already signed up and paid for a TSI test, a voucher and an e-mail has been sent to you via Google Classroom and your student e-mail address. Mrs. Reyes will also be sending a Google Classroom invite to prospective dual credit students who had not previously signed up for a TSI test. There is no charge for the test. If you paid for the TSI, but never took the exam you will be reimbursed. Prospective Dual Credit students must take an initial TSI test by May 30th and re-test TSI by July 17th.
