Jarrett Lipman is the Director of Bands at Claudia Taylor “Lady Bird” Johnson High School in San Antonio, Texas, where he has taught for twelve years. Mr. Lipman is the Brass Caption Manager at the Boston Crusaders Drum Corps, and before that was on staff at the Cadets Drum Corps from 2010 to 2016.

Mr. Lipman graduated with dual degrees in Music Education and Euphonium Performance from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Mr. Lipman’s responsibilities at Johnson include directing the Marching Band, co-conducting the Wind Ensemble with Mr. Alan Sharps, and assisting with the other concert bands and jazz ensembles. The Claudia Taylor Johnson Marching Band is a two-time Bands of America San Antonio Super Regional Champion and a three-time Grand National Finalist. In 2014, the marching band earned the Bronze Medal at the UIL 6A State Marching Contest and has been a consistent state finalist since 2012. The Johnson band program was awarded the John Philip Sousa Foundation Sudler Shield for excellence in marching band performance in 2014. The Claudia Taylor Johnson Wind Ensemble was named a TMEA State Honor Band Contest Finalist in 2012, 2014, and 2018.

In 2014, Lipman was selected as the Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity Texas Chapter's “Outstanding Young Bandmaster” of the year. Lipman is grateful for the opportunity to continue to grow as an instructor under the guidance and mentoring of Mr. Tom Bennett, Mr. Gino Cipriani, Mr. Mark Chambers, Mr. Joe Dixon, Dr. Tim Rhea, Mr. James Keene, and Mr. Mike Brashear, all of whom have supported him and the development of the program at Johnson.
