This is my 14th year of teaching and I have loved every minute of it! I spent 5 years teaching first grade, but am thrilled to now be in my 9th year of teaching the G/T program at Tuscany Heights. I look forward to each day bringing a new challenge, adventure, and opportunity to dive deeper into our learning about both the world and ourselves.
Prior to teaching, I worked with the district for 3 years substituting, mentoring, TAKS tutoring, and doing volunteer work. During that time, I completed my Master’s degree in Education at UTSA – GO ROADRUNNERS! Prior to that, I taught preschool here in San Antonio for 3 years. I absolutely LOVE working with children, and especially watching their minds light up with new ideas, connections and insights. I am passionate about making learning fun and engaging and creating a classroom environment where each student is inspired.
On a more personal note, I was born in Texas City, Texas, but have also lived in New York, South Carolina, Georgia, and was fortunate to spend a year overseas in Kuwait. We moved to San Antonio 18 years ago for a job opportunity for my husband, and have been here ever since – we LOVE our “little” big town! I have been married to my college sweetheart for 26 years. We met at Furman University in Greenville, S.C. I then went on to work in Employee Benefits Consulting for several years prior to starting a family. Of course, that changed EVERYTHING, and especially my heart! The next 19 years have been devoted to working with children, and what a blessing! Rich and I have two beautiful children of our own. Cole is 22 and is taking classes for a BA in Game & Art Development through SNHU while also working for Disney World at Star Wars Galaxy's Edge, Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida. Our 20-year old, Olivia, is starting her Junior year in the Honors Program at at Louisiana State University and is pursuing a double major in Arts Administration and Electronic Music & Digital Media. Most of our free time is spent traveling to see and support our children. We were also blessed during Covid to add TWO adorable puppies to our family - our Shih Tzu's Ryder and Harley definitely keep us all on our toes!
When I am not working, I enjoy trying new restaurants and spending time with our family and friends. I LOVE to go to the movies and live theatre, travel (especially to Disney), read, cook, watch movies (and college football!), and just hang around the house working on projects and doing most anything crafty! I am looking forward to another incredible year at Tuscany Heights!
