Mrs. Heesoo (Rachel) Kim

Hello,  I'm an ESL teacher at Tejeda Middle School. I've been teaching for 5 years in Texas, mostly ESL students. I studied biology at university and wanted to become a lab technician. Ironically, I wanted to become a teacher instead, so I pursued a Graduate degree in Linguistics from the University of Southern Queensland in Australia. I met many people from different countries and enjoyed making friends with them. I found a lifelong teaching job after I earned my master of Arts in Teaching degree from Dallas Baptist University in Dallas in 2014, focusing on ESL and  Reading for teaching students who have reading difficulties. As you can assume how much I relished teaching language, engaging students meaningfully has been my passion, calling, and joy. What amazed me the most was knowing students who are talented, unique, and gifted in various ways. I believe every child will be successful if they put their mind to learning and exploring the world with the guidance of good teachers who believe in their abilities.

I have two daughters who both graduated from Tejeda MS. Now one is at a university in NC and the other one is a junior at Johnson HS. I enjoy traveling to new places, going to the museum, playing chess, watching inspiring movies, trying out new foods, and most of all, I love to teach students reading. I'm excited about starting this new year and anticipating meeting all our new Timberwolves. Go Timberwolf, Yay !!
