About Me

  • My name is Shannon West and this is my third year as a full-time teacher.  After many years of substitute teaching, and an additional year of coursework, I earned my certification in the Spring of 2017. I am thrilled to be teaching 7th grade English at Tejeda!

I have 3 daughters who have grown up in NEISD. Katie is studying at Emory University, after graduating from the International School of the Americas (ISA) in 2017. Anna is a junior at ISA, after spending 3 wonderful years here at Tejeda. Bethany is an 8th grader at Bradley, continuing her dual language education. All 3 of them attended Steubing Ranch Elementary. We are extremely grateful for the opportunities NEISD has provided!

My husband and I have been married for 23 years, and we’ve lived in San Antonio for 18 of them. Although I grew up in the Midwest, and went to high school and college in the DFW area, I can’t imagine living anywhere else! Our family loves to go camping whenever we can get out of town. I am a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan and love cheering for the Spurs!

Fun fact: I am a fourth generation teacher!  My mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother were all educators and I am proud to follow in their footsteps.
