Hello! Welcome to chemistry! I love teaching this class as there are so many fun and interesting things that we can do and that I can show you such as chemical changes that involve color, fire and explosions. Math is involved! So be ready to work and learn.
I am an Aggie. I attended Texas A&M University in College Station obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a composite science teaching certification.
I have taught science for 23 years mainly chemistry around Texas and math for 1 year in Montreal, Canada. I taught at Schulenburg High School, New Braunfels High School, Westlake High School in Austin, Vidor High School, James Madison High School in San Antonio and presently, Johnson High School in San Antonio. At Madison High, I taught AP Chemistry and PreAP chemistry for 5 years, from 1996-2001. I also worked as an AP chemistry consultant for the College Board for 2 years, teaching teacher institutes around the state including Texas Lutheran University, University of Texas at San Antonio and Rice University.
While in Austin, I met and married a law student. After our second daughter was born, I took a sabbatical from teaching for 11 years to be at home with our two daughters who attended Churchill High School and attended Texas A&M University. While staying at home, I volunteered at my daughters' schools earning the Presidential Service Award for 7 years and the NEISD Superintendent's Award and serving in many PTA positions including president.
I enjoy traveling, reading, gardening, cooking and volunteering.
I am looking forward to teaching you chemistry and getting to know you. Please do not hesitate to ask if I can help you in any way.
