B.S. Biology and Psychology - Eastern New Mexico University M.Ed. Educational Technology - Texas A&M University

Mr. Matthew Scott

I am so excited about getting to know each and everyone of my students this year! Please let me know about things that interest you or spark your curiosity so that I can try to incorporate those things into our class. To that end, I'll let you know a little bit about myself as well.

I have a Bachelor's of Science degree from Eastern New Mexico University where I double majored in Biology and Psychology with a minor in Chemistry. While at ENMU, I was able to develop a true passion for science by working in a laboratory where I studied antibiotic resistance profiles of several species of bacteria. After graduating from college, I worked as a lab analyst for a bovine veterinary practice that specialized in servicing dairy animals. I realized, however, that my true passion was science education so I relocated to San Antonio in order to pursue a teaching career. After teaching for six years at the School of Sciecne and Technology, I decided to join the Science Department at James Madison High School! I am a lifelong learner (as I hope for all of my students to be as well), and I cannot seem to ever truly leave school. I completed a Masters of Education degree at Texas A&M University (Gig 'Em!) in Educational Technology in December of 2016.

My wife and I have one daughter. We also have three cats (Loki, Valkyrie, and Thor) and a dog (Lucy). In my free time, I enjoy cooking, watching TV/movies, playing board games, playing with our pets, reading, and of course spending time with my family. I also am sincerely passionate about astronomy and love to spend time peering through my telescopes and taking pictures of planets. If there is anything else that you would like to know about me, please feel free to ask!
