Ms. Callie Dycus

Hello! Welcome to Social Studies | Texas History! I am honored to be apart of the NEISD and Wood Middle School Family!

I LOVE History and am looking forward to helping each student develop their own skills as student historians.

A little about me; I received my BS in Agricultural Business and Economics from New Mexico State University and my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Education Technology from the University of Texas at El Paso. I'm a Texas native and have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th Social Studies in El Paso and here in San Antonio. I am the Wood Middle School Instructional Coach. I moved to the San Antonio area in May of 2020.  I'm also the Social Studies Instructional Coach and the Student Council Co-Sponser.

I look forward to getting to know the students, parents, and community members of WMS! Go Wranglers!

Grading Policy:

Here is the breakdown of my Gradebook:

35% - Daily work

25% - Quizzes

40% - Tests/Projects/Common Assessment

Daily work, quizzes, tests, and common assessments can be attempted for a second time if a student scores below 70% during the current grading period. 50% of assignments are digital and 50% are on paper during class time.

I do not believe in homework, therefore I plan lessons accordingly, to allow for class time to complete them. Assignments only become homework based on student classroom behaviors i.e. a student may choose to draw for 45 mins, in their journal, rather than complete the assignment(s); the assignment then becomes homework.

Students and parents please email me to notify me of the second attempt for daily work and quizzes; use the Google form in the "Classwork" tab in Google Classroom for test corrections on test/projects/common assessments.
