Hello! I am Rachel Richards, your 5th grade Special Education Co-Teacher! I am excited to have the opportunity to work with your children this year!

My family and I moved down from Washington State six years ago to pursue teaching and warmer weather. I graduated from Eastern Washington University and after 11 years working at the YMCA, I decided to transition to teaching, where I found my passion. I started my first four years of teaching in East Central ISD and I am excited to be starting my fifth year with you all at Hardy Oak! 

My husband is also a teacher in the Harlandale school district and we have a wonderful six year old son, Lafayette, who will be starting first grade at Hardy Oak this year! We have a bearded dragon named Peety and a beta fish named Hei Hei. We love to travel, go diving and do just about anything outdoors. Fitness is an important factor in our family! You can find us on the weekend attending soccer, baseball, flag football games or an Ironman.

My goal with all my students is to not only build on their academic knowledge, but their social and emotional growth as well. I can ensure that I will create an inviting, fun and safe environment for your child and that they will feel encouraged and confident in their own learning! My phone is an open door and I will ensure that you feel confident with your child here at Hardy Oak!
