Mrs. Patricia Moy
Hello! I am excited to be a NESID educator. I look forward to getting to know the children and guiding them to be the most successful version of themselves.
I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago as the youngest of 4 girls. In middle school I discovered the magic of theatre and have not looked back since. In high school, theatre was my haven and my had a profound effect on me.
I went to Northern Illinois University on a scholarship and earned a B.F.A in Theatre Education. Upon graduation I moved to Texas for my first teaching job at NISD where I taught theatre and speech for the next 10 years in various middle and high schools.
In 2003, my son was born. As he started to reach school age, we knew he needed more attention than my working full time would allow, so I stepped away from the classroom. In the following years, I worked various part-time jobs, did lots of community theatre, and volunteered a lot at my church. Last year I returned to teaching mid-year.
I am so excited to continue the success of this theatre program and help students grow inside and outside of the classroom. My philosophy is to use the art of theater to create curious lifelong learners of all subjects. Through theatre, students learn history, reading and writing, math, science, relationships, and more! It is a great way for students to learn about themselves and their shared world.
The best way to get into contact with me is through email. I am usually at school by 7:30 a.m. and afterschool rehearsals usually keep me here until past 6 p.m. daily. I will try to respond to parent emails by the next day.
Sincerely,
Patricia Moy
