Mr. Stephen Trotter
I have been happily married for 9 years and I am the proud father of 3 (7yo daughter, 4yo son, and 1yo daughter) with a 2yo golden retriever too. This is my 6th year with NEISD (I've been a bus driver, a paraprofessional, and a teacher). This is my 4th year with Lopez Middle School as an ALE teacher. I am excited for another fun school year!
Your student will receive a visual schedule on the first day of school. The first week of school will be devoted to learning those schedules, becoming familiar with the campus and the routine of the classroom. Below is the ALE class schedule. Some students do participate in other classes around campus, so their individual schedule, which they will receive the first day of school, will reflect those individual adjustments.
Arrival and Dismissal Protocols
If you plan on dropping off and/or picking up your student from the ALE classroom rather than riding the bus, please enter the campus grounds from the Eagle Vail entrance and take an immediate left. Park in one of the places near the chain link fence. A para or teacher will receive your student at your car in the morning and walk your student to your car in the afternoon.
PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE IN THE AREA OR PARK IN THE AREA WHERE THE BUSES DROP OFF AND PICK UP. YOUR AUTOMOBILE IN THIS AREA LIMITS VISIBILITY FOR THE BUS DRIVERS, AND WE ALSO DO NOT WANT STUDENTS CROSSING IN ANY AREA WHERE THERE ARE SCHOOL BUSES.
Drop Off: 8-8:15 a.m.
*If you arrive later than 8:20, please take your student to the front entrance of the school to be dropped off.
Pick Up: 3:40p.m. Our students will be packed up and ready to go about 10 minutes before the bell rings, so if you would like to meet at the ALE entrance early, we will have your students prepared to be picked up.
Parents, please be respectful of these arrival and dismissal times. It is extremely important to us to maintain safe supervision at all times. There are duties and meetings frequently scheduled before and after school, so arrivals that are too early or pick-ups that are too late pull staff members from other scheduled areas of importance.
**We can be accommodating with using the side door, but I'm also protective of documenting each students' instructional minutes. If you're planning on picking your student up early, please follow campus procedures by checking your student out at the front office rather than asking to pick them up at the side door. Thank you.**

Work Skills Class
In our work skills class, we will participate in a variety of employable skill learning activies. This includes gardening, cooking, baking, office tasks (like shredding, stapling, recycling), organizing and maintaining the lost-and-found for the school, and assisting staff with other duties around campus. If you would like to donate recipe ingredients or supplies, I will send lists home before the activities.
