Mrs. Melissa Rodriguez-Sanchez (Mrs. Rodriguez)

Hello Bronco Family! My name is Melissa Rodriguez-Sanchez, and I am stoked for a second year as one of the Redirection/Self-Contained Teachers at Northern Hills Elementary. It is our goal as a team to provide enhanced academic and social learning, and teach opportunities that will assist students receiving Special Education Services. Working together as your child continues to take ownership of their choices while demonstrating prosocial replacement behaviors and continued learning of coping skills which will result in the development of socially accepted and independent adaptive skills.

I have been involved in education for over 24 years, and right along side that social work. The service in education has been in part as either a substitute teacher, teacher's aide at Texas Youth Commison, para-professional, and now a first year teacher! I have been in the Special Education department for about four years serving in the role of a Special Education para-professional. Two of those years I spent with NEISD, and the other two I was part of the Wayside Charter school in Austin which is part of an International Baccalaureate program. My time within the social work arena has been working with the state of Texas as a case manager, working in the juvenille detention system, Teen Court program in Florida, and working as lead staff at residential treatment centers. My passion is helping students to meet their individual full potential, as well as maximizing the fun compotent as we do so! Your babies will never doubt the love I have for them, and the hope I have for them to do great things!

I am orginally from Santa Fe, New Mexico, and have lived in Destin, Florida, but I missed my parents/siblings and came home! I grew up in Texas, and have literally lived in almost every little town all over Texas, and have also lived in every major city in Texas. San Antonio is by far my favorite, because I met my wonderful spouse here and, we have two amazing boys! In my down time I love anything to do with art, reading, camping, hiking, and fishing! I play basketball, softball, and volleyball. My favorite place to be is the water! Fun fact: I just recently got a Yorkiepoo and his name is Miro.
