We know decisions about schools directly affect students, staff, families and communities. While no decisions have been made at this time, we want our community to be aware of the ongoing discussion and have access to information as the process develops.

Planning for the Future of Our Schools

North East ISD is having conversations about enrollment, campus utilization and the efficient use of District resources as we plan for the 2027–2028 school year.

At the September Board of Trustees meeting, the District shared that 16 elementary campuses currently meet all the following indicators: enrollment below 450 students, facility utilization below 60%, and/or an average cost per student at least 5% above the District average.

No decisions about specific campuses have been made at this time.

This information will help guide discussions and recommendations in the months ahead. Potential strategies may include programming changes and/or the consolidation of no more than four campuses for the 2027–2028 school year.

We are sharing information early so our families, staff and community can follow the process as it develops. This page will serve as the central location for updates, presentations, frequently asked questions and opportunities for community input.

Being one of the 16 identified campuses does not mean a campus has been selected for consolidation; no specific campuses have been recommended yet; and final decisions would require future recommendations and Board action. In fact, several schools on that list are not under review due to the fact that they were impacted by our previous consolidations or they have specialized programs.
