What
is the Behavior Management Plan?
The school office hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on school days.
For the safety of our students, we require all visitors
to Wood Middle School to have their picture I.D. scanned through ouf Raptor
Visitor Tracking System. Only immediate family may visit a student during
lunch. No school-aged students are allowed on campus during the school
day, which includes high school students. Please direct any questions
about this policy to the main office at 650-1300, then press "0."
Please contact the attendance office when your student is absent from school,
650-1300 ext. 230. Voice mail is available, or email Delores Ovalle at
dovall@neisd.net
ABSENCE
(one full day or more)
A
student cannot get an EXCUSED blue slip without a note from the parent.
If a doctor appointment was required for this illness, please send a copy of the
doctor's note. Without a note, the student will receive an UNEXCUSED
yellow slip. The student then has two (2) days to bring a note and receive
an excused slip.
PERMIT
TO LEAVE SCHOOL
A
student who knows in advance that he/she will need to leave the campus during
school hours should have a written request from his/her parents. This
request should be presented to the Attendance Office before school begins.
The time leaving should be specified on the written request. Please advise
your students not to give the note to the teacher.
PARENTS
MUST SHOW A PICTURE I.D. AND SIGN THE STUDENT OUT BEFORE THE STUDENT CAN LEAVE
CAMPUS, EVEN IF THE STUDENT RECEIVED A BLUE SLIP IN ADVANCE AND IS WAITING FOR
HIS/HER PARENT.
Please
allow at least 15 minutes when you come to pick up a student.
DOCTOR
APPOINTMENTS
If
a student leaves campus or returns to campus on the same day as an appointment
with a Health Care Professional, the student will not be counted as absent for
that day. A note from the doctor is required or it will be counted as an
absence.
ADDITIONAL
ATTENDANCE INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND IN THE NEISD STUDENT/PARENT HANDBOOK.
If you would like to meet with teachers to discuss your child's progress, or
you have a question or concern, don't hesitate to set up a conference.
Call the school and access the teacher's voicemail to leave a message.
Their voicemail numbers can be found on the
Faculty
page. The teacher's make every attempt to return calls within a 48 hour
timeframe. Please allow them this time to get back to you. Setting
up an appointment guarantees that you will have the undivided attention of Wood
staff when you arrive for your conference. Please do not arrive
unannounced; the teachers are in class and cannot be interrupted from class time
to talk to individual parents.
