The Cup Pass Routine is a fun rhythmic activity for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. The students learn the routine individually, facing the teacher until they have mastered the sequence. Then the students sit in a circle and pass the cup to the person on their right on the number"10". The students should use the numbers 1-10 until they feel successful. At that point they can stop counting to hear the rhythm of the cup on the floor and hands. You can add music the has a moderate tempo to enhance the activity. The song, " Danger Zone", from the movie Top Gun is an excellent choice.

To make it even more challenging, have the students perform the routine in cut time, then back to a tempo. It's a blast and great for PTA shows. The parents will love it! Have fun and if you have any questions, be sure to e-mail me here at school.
