NEISD donates food to students in need for Thanksgiving holiday

Many students go hungry when school isn’t in session

November 20, 2015

What: NEISD family specialists will pass out Weekend Treats bags to students before they leave for the break. North East ISD employees and the University of the Incarnate Word donated healthy snacks for more than 260 students across the District who rely on their school for regular, nutritious meals. Those students will be out of school for the Thanksgiving holidays and won’t have access to breakfast and lunch at school.

Who: Family specialist and students at Windcrest

Where: Windcrest Elementary School, 465 Faircrest, San Antonio

Why: The outreach program was started to make sure those students have something extra over the Thanksgiving holiday. This is the second Weekend Treats delivery. The first donation was organized in the spring.
