The Self-Manager Program is a school wide approach to positive discipline.  We are here to help your child become aware of the daily practice of six Character Traits.  These six traits are:  Caring, Civic Responsibility, Dependability, Fairness, Integrity, and Respect.

The Self-Manager Program is implemented in all areas of the school day.  Every month one of the character traits will be spotlighted school wide.  However, each student is expected to model all six of the character traits throughout each day.  After modeling these behaviors successfully for one school week, a student will be able to apply for a Self-Manager badge.  When a student wears this badge it means he/she has displayed exceptional behavior.  A student who does not model the expectations may lose his/her badge, but will have a chance to earn it back.  Every student is encouraged to become a Self-Manager.

Daily, each student will assess his/her modeling of the six character traits on the Student Reflection Checklist, which is included in this agenda book.  Parents are asked to review and initial it daily.  This provides daily communication among parents, students and teachers.  Also included in the folder/agenda book are a Reflection Guide and a page of Character Trait Definitions.

This program will help your child learn through mistakes, understand expectations, and accept responsibility for his/her actions and behavior.  Encourage your child to share what he/she is learning about the Character Traits each day and look for ways to incorporate the terms into your daily interactions at home so your child will soon discover that what is learned in school really does make a difference.  We hope to promote and reinforce meaningful skills that will last a lifetime.

Please check Agenda Book for more information.
