Tejeda Middle School students came out to the school's football field to witness the presentation of the 2011 North East ISD Middle School Cup (large school district), awarded to Tejeda, on Friday, May 27. NEISD Executive Director of Atheltics Jerry Comalander, with Assistant Athletic Directors Carl Gustafson, Karen Funk and Jimmy Burkholder, presented the cup to Tejeda Principal Brenda Shelton. Following the presentation, students began a "flash mob" to celebrate recently being named a Healthy Fit Campus and earning $10,000 from H-E-B for the award.
The NEISD Middle School Cup is awarded to the winning campus, based on combination of points earned through athletics, academic and fine arts competitions throughout the school year. In addition to earning the Cup, Tejeda students and staff wanted to celebrate earning the Healthy Fit Campus award.
