Tejeda Middle School-Welcome to the Den

Awards & Recognitions

Tejeda is one of the few middle schools that recognize student achievement at all grade levels. We hold an end-of-year award ceremony in each grade because we feel these students deserve to be recognized for their accomplishments and leadership during the school year. The 8th grade award ceremony is held the evening prior to the last day of school. The award ceremonies for students in grades six and seven are held during the final day of school.

Students are recognized at the End-of-Year Award Ceremony for the following reasons:

●Superintendent’s Award (one student – 8th grade only)
●Principal’s Award (a boy and girl from each grade level)
●All year perfect attendance (all classes)
●All 3 years Perfect Attendance (8th grade only)
●All Year ‘A’ Honor Roll – (based on the first three nine-week grading periods, a student must have earned an ‘A’ in all of his/her classes)
●Scholastic Achievement Award – (a student must have more ‘A’s than ‘B’s in each of the first three nine-week grading periods in his/her courses - grades are not cumulative nor do semester grades count)
●Duke Talent Search (invited 7th graders who took the SAT and receive state or national recognition)
●Club Officers (NJHS, NJAHS, Student Council, SLIA, Young Historians, Red Cross, etc)
●MathCounts Team
●Academic U.I.L. Team
●Scholar Athletes (7th and 8th grade boy and girl)

Silver Star Award – (each grade level)

Twice a year (in the fall and spring) students, nominated by their teachers, receive the Silver Star Award. Two students per team are nominated in the areas of Service, Leadership, Academic Excellence, Citizenship, and Character/Sportsmanship. Parents of those students receiving an award will be notified and invited to the Silver Star Award Ceremony.
