Fourth and Fifth grade students that are responsible and display EXCELLENT behavior
are selected for the very important job of serving as members of the Robotics Club.
Meeting weekly, the students work with a large assortment of parts including sensors, converter cables and motors, in order to buildĀ programmable robots. Teams of students "mind-storm," build, test and then record their findings in an engineering journal.
Together they determine the purpose of their robot and list tasks to follow in its construction. Limitations of their design are noted, and schematics are illustrated.
Weekly meetings allow students to access information in the computer lab and/or work with their sponsors on the construction steps of the club's Scope and Sequence. The project will end in March 2010, with a video-taped competition through student-designed obstacle courses.
