This year your child will learn to read, write, add, subtract, and problem solve. Your child will also learn about the Ancient Egyptians, Space, Oceans, Inside the Earth, and so much more. So, be prepared for a fun-filled year of learning!

Our language arts time is divided into four blocks:

            * Guided Reading
            * Self-Selected Reading
            * Writing
            * Making Words

                These are four basic ways children learn to read!

Our math is a hands-on approach to learning. The focus is shifting toward an emphasis on mathematical reasoning and problem solving.

We are Core Knowledge proud in First Grade. The following are a few of the many Core Knowledge units that will be taught throughout the year:
