The primary goal of the Health Services program is to maximize each student's potential for growth and development.  The services and the screening programs help to promote health and health education.  All procedures are outlined in the Student/ Parent Handbook for Elementary Schools.


Medication Information: All medication is safely stored in the Serna Clinic. Parent or guardian must bring medications to the clinic. Students MAY NOT carry medications. Medications MUST be in original prescription container.

Communicable Diseases: Students are to be free of fever and communicable diseases in order to attend school.

Immunizations: All records fo immunizations are required to be updated and on file for all students.


In addition to existing immunization requirements, students starting kindergarten on or after Aug. 24, 2009 must have two doses of the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) Vaccine and two doses of the Varicella (Chickenpox) Vaccine. The first doses of each of these vaccines must have been given on or after the first birthday. For more information, contact San Antonio Metropolitan Health District (207-8790).
