The goal of the NEISD Peer Mediation program is to implement comprehensive peer mediation/conflict resolution programs in grades PK-12 throughout the district. Through extensive training and follow up activities staff and students are equipped with skills, which help to create and sustain safe and respectful school climates. The result is an increase in learning and social success.

On all middle and high school campuses in NEISD, peer mediation is implemented through the PAL program and serves as a key component in the services that the PALs provide to their schools. Implementation plans in elementary programs consist of the formation of peer mediation teams, which are comprised of trained students who have been nominated by their peers, teachers, counselors and administrators. |
Key Components of Peer Mediation Programs: •Completion and analysis of a Peer Mediation Campus Needs Assessment•A minimum of six hours of student and sponsor training •Faculty Awareness sessions and updates •On-going training •Follow up activities •Advanced Skill Building lessons •Data Analysis to determine effectiveness |
