Peace Team -- NEISD.net

The Lunch Buddy Program began this year as a way to reach out to students who eat alone. We realized that some students either have no one to eat with or are just uncomfortable in the crowds of people at lunch.

During the lunches for the first 9 weeks, we scouted the campus to locate individuals who were not using the lunchroom. These individuals were invited to come up to Mrs. Wales’ room and eat lunch.

Once there, they met many other individuals. If the student did not want to come up to Mrs. Wales’ room, then the PEACE team member would sit with them in the lunchroom or wherever they were and talk with them.

Many new friendships developed this way. As some students were not eating lunch due to the lack of money, the PEACE team also fundraised and set up a fund for students who did not have lunch money.
