2009-2010 RED RIBBON WEEK
ART CONTEST GUIDELINES

Theme: “Drug Free is the key”
Deadline for Entries: November 13, 2009
- Conduct campus contest by November 6, 2009
- Bring or send your campus entries to the PTA Council office at NEEC room #605. Entries will be accepted through November 13, 2009.
- District judging will take place December 10, 2009. Winners will be announced the week of December 14, 2009.
- The PTA ADEPT Ceremony for the contest winners will be held in January, 20, 2010 at Piper Bass Student Center
IMPORTANT NOTE!!!
Each campus will submit ONLY its top winner in each grade level, and in each category (if applicable) for the district judging.
Categories:
- Visual Arts: Entries may include paintings, drawings or collages. This category is appropriate for your younger elementary students. However, students in all grades can express the theme through visual arts.
- All visual arts entries must be mounted on material that is suitable for display, such as poster board or tag board.
- Visual arts entries should not exceed 24” x 36”
- You must identify each entry with the student’s name, address, grade level and campus. Place this information on the back of the entry.
- Visual Media: This category includes photography, videotaped skits or plays or “public service announcements”, CD’s and computer programs.
- Photography entries must be mounted on material that is suitable for display, such as tag board or poster board.
- Videos, CD’s and computer programs should be no longer than 4 minutes in length.
- You must identify each entry with student’s name, address, grade level and campus. Place this information on the back of the entry.
3. Literature: This category includes poetry, prose, and essays. Entries should not exceed 500 words Students in grades 6-12 may write a persuasive letter to a parent, a loved one or a friend convincing them not to smoke, drink or use drugs, or they may write about the RRW theme.
- Entries should be typed if at all possible.
- You must identify each entry with student’s name, address, grade level and campus.
