Dear Trailblazers,

     The month of April is going to be a very busy month.  It is filled with registration, TAKS testing and Earth Day events.  We are currently working on Kinder registration, which will be ongoing until we fill all of our seats in kinder.  In addition to kinder registration we are registering new enrollments to Roan Forest for next year.  Once the seats are filled, children will register at Bulverde Creek, our overflow school.  We will be sending out cards for continued enrollment in April.  Please return these cards and let us know if you are returning or leaving Roan Forest for the 2008-2009 school year.  It is important for ALL registration cards to be returned.  It allows us to determine who may return to Roan Forest from Bulverde Creek.

     We will celebrate Earth Day on April 18.  Children will be allowed to hear from a number of organizations who preserve and conserve.   Mrs. Dawn Bradley and Mrs. Sue Hernandez are organizing this day of events which will occur during our PE/Music periods.  Children will rotate to five centers to hear guest speakers.  

      Finally,  the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills test will be administered the week of April 26.  The following grade levels will be taking Reading (4^th grade),  Math (3^rd, 4^th, 5^th grades) and Science (5^th grade).  Please check the April calendar for exact dates.  We are proud of our third and fifth grade children who have already taken the reading test. They performed from 97%-99%.  Our children who took the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (2^nd grade)  also performed exceptionally, well.  Congratulations to our teachers, children and our parent!
