All spirit uniforms shall be moved into a rental pool. Expenditures from the spirit uniform account shall require signatures of the following personnel: High School Principal, Sponsor/Director, and the District Spirit Group Coordinator. Expenditures shall be for replacement of existing uniforms or beginning a new program, not for increasing the number of uniforms.

Three bids shall be required prior to an acceptance of a contract agreement with a manufacturer. Purchases must be made by securing a P. O. number from Central Office. Names of several potential manufacturers shall be provided by the District Spirit Group Coordinator. Current potential manufacturers are the following:

1. Sol Frank
2. Edie Cardwell
3. Judy Sadler
4. Cheerleader Supply
5. Creations International
6. Reynolds Uniforms
7. Varsity Uniforms

Uniforms purchased through the spirit uniform account shall be owned and maintained by the individual campus. Rental fees for these uniforms shall not exceed $25.00 per uniform per year. Damage assessments shall be determined by the sponsor/ director and a wardrobe officer from the spirit club parent support group.

Cleaning expense shall be the responsibility of the individual or campus to be decided at the campus level. Cleaning expenses shall not be paid out of the uniform account.

Replacement of spirit group uniforms shall occur on a five year cycle.

Recent purchases of uniforms (within two years) by an individual, the school or the parent support group may be brought into the uniform rental pool at a cost to be determined by the principal, sponsor/director, and the spirit group coordinator.

Using the uniform account, each individual campus shall bear the responsibility of providing a variety of uniform sizes to fit each member of the group. This shall include meeting the needs of transfer students and increased numbers of teams and squads through program growth.

The following accessories may be purchased from this account: overlays, pompoms, novelty items. Nominal rental fees shall be assessed for these accessories. Fees shall be determined by the sponsor/director and spirit group coordinator.

FIELD DAYS - ELEMENTARY

Activities of students participating in field day activities are an outgrowth of the physical fitness curriculum in physical education and will be considered cocurricular. Therefore, the eligibility of student participants will be based on the cocurricular require-ments of the State and the District.

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS

A transfer student must be enrolled in school for the third six-weeks period of the fall semester to be eligible for consideration as a member of the National Junior Honor Society and for subsequent induction in the following spring semester. Membership from another chapter may be transferred immediately.

PRACTICES, TRYOUTS, AND SELECTION

Students who have made one or more "F's" during any six weeks grading period shall participate in all practices held during the school day and outside of the school day, even though they are ineligible to perform. Further, students who have made one or more "F’s" during any six weeks grading period shall be eligible to participate in auditions for the coming year.

FOOTBALL SPRING

Students who have made one or more "F's" during the fourth six-weeks period would be prohibited from participation in spring training during the fifth six-weeks period. Prohibiting a student from participation in spring training at this time does not prohibit him from participating in football next fall if, in fact, he is academically eligible at that time.

A student who makes one or more "F's" during the fourth six-weeks period will become ineligible seven days after the last day of the fourth six-weeks period.

ATHLETIC POLICIES HANDBOOK

The guidelines and procedures that apply to athletics shall be found in the "Athletic Policies" handbook. These "Athletic Policies" shall serve as a supplement to adopted Board policies and approved administrative regulations, and shall have no force or effect if in conflict with those policies or administrative regulations.

SWIMMERS

A swimmer who fails one or more courses during the first six-weeks grading period may still swim before or after school at BAC pool under the following provisions:

1. He or she is receiving physical education credit for the course and there is no comparable course during the school day on the student's campus. The "before-school" session is con- strued as a zero period and the "first period" is actually the travel period when the student is transported back to his or her campus. The "after-school" swimming is construed as a seventh period to BAC pool. If the District has a pool on a campus, swimmers should be permitted to swim only during their designated physical education work-out period and not before or after school.

2. The ineligible swimmer may not participate in any meets during the second six-weeks grading period. He or she may have one work-out period per day which is counted toward the physical education credit.
