BICYCLE/AUTOMOBILE USE

In order to ensure a high degree of safety for persons on the campuses and to prevent unnecessary damage to the grounds, no wheeled vehicles or carriers of any kind, including bicycles, skates, and skateboards, shall be permitted to operate on any athletic fields, play areas, sidewalks, ramps, loading docks, streets, roads, and driveways on school property. Because of numerous pedestrians being present, students riding bicycles to and from school should walk their bicycles between the perimeter of the school property and the bicycle rack at school. The only exception to this provision shall be officially approved, District-owned vehicles, or other approved contractors' and workmen's vehicles in execution of District functions.

STUDENT PARKING REQUIREMENTS

The Texas Financial Responsibility Act requires that all Texas drivers have proof of liability insurance with minimum legal liability limits.
In compliance with this law, the District shall require any student who drives a vehicle on District property to present a current valid driver's license and proof of personal liability insurance with minimum legal liability limits before being issued a parking permit.
Current minimum amounts are $20,000/ $40,000/ $15,000.

(1)  $20,000 for bodily injury to or death of one person in one accident;

(2)  $40,000 for bodily injury to or death of two or more persons in one accident, subject to the amount provided by Subdivision (1) for bodily injury to or death of one of the persons; and

(3)  $15,000 for damage to or destruction of property of others in one accident.
Effective April 1, 2008, the minimum amounts will be $25,000/ $50,000/ $25,000 for renewed policies.

Effective January 1, 2011, the minimum amounts will be $30,000/ $60,000/ $25,000 for renewed policies.
