ACADEMIC GUIDANCE PROGRAM

PROGRAM

The guidance and counseling program shall provide the means of helping individual students understand and use wisely the educa-tional, career, and personal opportunities they have and can develop. These programs shall be designed and developed to offer systematic assistance to aid all students in achieving satisfactory adjustment to school and to life. The goal of the guidance and counseling process shall be to address academic, personal, and career needs of students.

SERVICES

Guidance services shall be coordinated with the regular instruc-tional program so that they contribute to a unified educational program. The guidance program shall operate with central coordination and shall be a cooperative project of the entire professional staff. Teachers shall utilize opportunities in the classroom, in extracurricular activities, and in contacts with parent(s)/guardian(s) to achieve guidance objectives. Qualified counselors shall be employed to develop planned guidance and counseling activities on each campus.

IMPLEMENTATION

The Superintendent or designee shall implement the guidance and counseling program. Staff, facilities, and materials shall be provided that ensure an adequate program for student placement and referral, as well as for consultation with teachers and parents in promoting student success.
