CAMPUS LEVEL

CAMPUS IMPROVEMENT
COUNCIL

The following procedure shall be used to elect employees to the Campus Improvement Council:

ELEMENTARY FACULTY

The twelve (12) campus-based professional employees shall represent the following areas:

1 - Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten
1 - First grade
1 - Second grade
1 - Third grade
1 - Fourth grade
1 - Fifth grade
1 - Special Education
1 - Special area teachers such as physical education, Chapter I, etc.
4 - Non-teaching professional staff such as librarians, counselors, nurses, and assistant principals

Each group listed above shall elect their own representative(s).

MIDDLE SCHOOL FACULTY

The twelve (12) campus-based professional employees shall represent the following areas:

1 - Math
1 - Social Studies
1 - Science
1 - English
1 - Reading
1 - P.E.
1 - Elective
1 - Special Education
4 - Non-teaching professional staff such as librarians, counselors, nurses, and assistant principals

Each group listed above shall elect their own representative(s).

HIGH SCHOOL FACULTY

The twelve (12) campus-based professional employees shall represent the following area:

1 - Math
1 - Social Studies
1 - Science
1 - English/Reading
1 - Foreign Language
3 - Special Education, Career and Technology and special area teachers such as physical education, fine arts, etc.
4 - Non-teaching professional staff such as librarians, counselors, nurses, and assistant principals

Each group listed above shall elect their own representative(s).

DESIGNATION OF REPRESENTATIVE AREA

If a professional employee serves in more than one area, such as math and reading, the principal shall be responsible for choosing the area assigned for determining representatives to the Campus Improvement Council (CIC).

ELECTION/NOMINATION

The election and appointment process shall be completed during the Spring Semester no later than May 1 of each year. Council members shall be involved in developing performance objectives for the school year immediately following their election or appointment.

DUTIES

Council members duties shall include:

  1. Review campus plans developed for the subsequent year.
  2. Monitor and evaluate the plan in the school year following the school year in which they were elected.
  3. Assist in developing the campus plan for the next year.

TERM

Staff members of the committees at all levels will serve two-year staggered terms.

DISTRICT-LEVEL REPRESENTATIVE

Each principal shall appoint a District-level professional staff member to serve a one-year term on the Campus Improvement Council.
