ARCHAEOLOGY

Archaeology is a branch of cultural anthropology and is the study of the material remains of past human cultures.

Archaeologists use scientific methods to document archaeological sites. Professional archaeologists decide how a site should be studied. The choice depends on many factors including whether it is in danger of being destroyed, the nature of the site, the size, depth and location of the site and the type of funding available for the study. Archaeologists use a variety of techniques to investigate an archaeological site.
